
Heredia Colon Earns ACC Weekly Honor
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami senior Flormarie Heredia Colon was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office.
Heredia Colon had another dominant weekend after tallying 68 kills, nine aces, 17 digs, four blocks and 79.5 points. The highlight of the weekend came against Illinois when she claimed 24 kills on 43 attempts for a .372 hitting percentage, seven aces, three blocks and 33.0 points to lead all scorers in the NCAA for Saturday matches.
Starting the week against Ole Miss, she notched 26 kills on a .264 clip, four digs and 27 points in the five-set thriller. In Friday’s match vs. Illinois State, she claimed 19 kills on a .224 clip, 11 digs and 20.5 points to extend Miami’s win streak to seven matches.
In the rankings, Heredia Colon is second in the NCAA for points per set (5.70) and first in the ACC, while ranking 10th in the NCAA in kills per set (4.80) and first in the ACC.
The Hurricanes will host Coastal Carolina on Thursday at the Knight Sports Complex for the 305 Invitational.
