
Zubimendi Varela, Ravini Perelli Put Together Strong Performances at U23 Rowing World Championships
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team had two student-athletes competing at the U23 Rowing World Championships this past week, as rising senior Naroa Zubimendi Varela and incoming freshman Beatrice Ravini Perelli each represented their home countries at the prestigious event.
Zubmendi Varela had a tremendous showing representing Spain in the Women’s Pair. Her and her teammate, Amanda Gil Camacho, competed in Heat 1 last Wednesday, earning a spot in the A Final by placing second with an excellent time of 7:17.30. The duo competed in the Finals on Saturday, securing a fifth-place finish with a time of 7:15.76. It was Zubimendi Varela’s second consecutive appearance at the U23 World Rowing Championship, as she earned a Silver Medal last year in the same event.
Ravini Perelli was making her first appearance at the U23 World Championships and she competed in the Women’s Double Sculls event, representing Italy. Perelli and her teammate Alice Gnatta competed in Heat 3 last Wednesday where they earned a third-place finish with a time of 7:06.33. Ravini Perelli qualified for the B Finals and proceeded to secure a second-place finish in the event with a stellar time of 7:00.18.
