Bain Named to Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Rueben Bain was among those players selected to the preseason watch list for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, the organization announced Wednesday.

Bain, a 2024 All-ACC Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore starter for the Hurricanes, was one of just 42 defensive players named to the list.

Named after former NFL Hall of Fame star Ronnie Lott, the Lott Trophy annually goes to the Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year, a player who has had the biggest impact on his team both on and off the field.  IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity, all characteristics exhibited by Lott during his illustrious playing career.

The 2023 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, Bain finished his second season with 23 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks despite missing nearly five full games due to injury. In two seasons at Miami, Bain has totaled 67 tackles, 18.0 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Bain was named to the 2023 All-ACC Academic Team after a standout freshman season in the classroom and on the field, one that saw him earn NCAA All-America honors. A Miami native, Bain has also donated an extensive amount of his time to service efforts to lift up his local community.
