Miami Wraps up Competition at ACC Championships
CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Miami rowing team completed competition at the 2025 ACC Championships Saturday afternoon, with the First Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Four turning in excellent performances to highlight the day for the Hurricanes.
Competing in the petite finals, Miami had two boats earn top three finishes and the Hurricanes earned 34 total points as a team to conclude the event in 11th place.
“As expected, the racing was incredibly fast and tough,” said Head Coach James Mulcahy. “While our results are not where we need nor expect them to be, every crew rowed their best piece possible today and there were some great crew efforts – the 2V4+ put in a gusty effort to finis eighth overall and beat their seeding, while the 1V8+ and 3V8+ both set new school records in their events. Congratulations to Senior Aaliah Dawson on making her third consecutive All-ACC Team; her contributions to this team are immense and she leaves behind a wonderful legacy for our returners and future rowers to aspire toward. Finally, a big thank you to all of our graduating seniors – they have helped move the program forward through the ups and downs of the past several years and we wish them all the best as they start the next chapter of their lives!”
The Third Varsity Eight commenced the day, defeating Boston College and Louisville with a time of 6:48.725 to earn a fourth-place finish and set a new program record at the ACC Championships.
The Second Varsity Four followed with a stellar performance, as they took second place with a time of 7:28.684, defeating Louisville, Notre Dame, Boston College, and SMU.
Miami’s First Varsity Four clocked a time of 7:30.646 to take fifth place in their race, while Second Varsity Eight also took fifth place in their respective race, finishing with a time of 6:38.464.
The First Varsity Eight closed out the event for Miami with a superb performance, as they set a new program record for the ACC Championships, finishing with a time of 6:22.325 to secure a third-place finish, defeating SMU, Notre Dame, and Boston College.
Senior Aaliah Dawson garnered All-ACC Third Team honors following the conclusion of the event, marking her third consecutive All-Conference award.
The end of the ACC Championships marks the end of the season for the Hurricanes, as they will now turn their attention to the 2025-26 campaign.
