Kim, Hebron Win Gold at ACC Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The University of Miami track and field team closed out the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday with strong performances highlighted by ACC champions Aaron Kim and Sanaa Hebron.

The Hurricanes dominated the men’s high jump as Aaron Kim won the high jump with a lifetime best clearance of 2.18m, edging out his teammate Kennedy Sauder, who finished second with a jump of 2.12m. Kim’s mark of 2.18m ranks as the second-highest clearance in program history.

Sanaa Hebron claimed gold in the women’s 400m hurdles with the second-fastest time in school history at 55.21. Hebron’s time ranks as the fifth-fastest time in the country this season, and she becomes the first Hurricane to win the 400m hurdle at the ACC Championships since Samantha Gonzalez in 2018.

Gabriella Grissom broke the school’s 800m record as the junior clocked a 2:01.00 to finish fourth. Grissom’s time bettered Kayla Johnson’s record mark of 2:01.37 set in 2021. The Fayetteville, Georgia, native’s previous best time was 2:02.95.

The women’s 4x400m relay of Serena Tate, Grissom, Alyssa Robinson and Hebron took home silver with a season-best time of 3:29.00.

The men’s 4x400m relay of Ace Malone, George Franks, Robert Joseph and Lance Ward record the school’s second-fastest time in the event at 3:04.70.

Franks registered the second-fastest time in program history in the men’s 400m at 45.20 to finish fourth. Malone earned a point as he finished eighth at 46.86.

Miami opened the final day of competition with nine points in the women’s javelin as Deisiane Teixeira placed second with a throw of 51.12m, and Erikka Hill placed eighth, scoring in her third event of the championships, with a mark of 42.45m.

The men’s 4x100m relay of Carter Cukerstein, Ashton Torns, Ward and Caine Stanley finished fifth at 39.41.

In the 100m hurdles, Brittney Jennings secured a fifth-place finish as she clocked a 13.55. Serena Tate recorded a seventh-place finish in the women’s 400m with a time of 53.41.

In the men’s 200m final, Ward placed eighth at 21.06.

The women’s team placed seventh overall with 51 points, and the men’s team finished ninth with 50 points.

Miami returns to action May 28-31 for the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Florida.
