Miami Adds Qavia Lopez For 2025-26 Season
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami director of tennis Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced the addition of Florida transfer Qavia Lopez.
“I believe Qavia’s best tennis is in front of her,” said Yaroshuk-Tews. “She is an outstanding athlete that understands what it takes to win at this level. I’m excited to embark on this journey together.”
The incoming redshirt junior comes to The U after spending two seasons with the Gators, compiling 23 singles wins and 24 doubles wins in her freshman season, leading her to a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. Lopez also became the first player in program history to be named SEC Freshman of the Week three times following a 10-2 conference record in singles and a dominant seven-match win streak in doubles to close out the spring.
Prior to college, Lopez was tabbed the top-ranked recruit in the nation for the 2023 class and earned five star and blue chip honors. She claimed a career-best ITF junior ranking at No. 19 following her appearances at the 2022 Wimbledon Junior Championships and Junior Australian Open.
The Delray Beach, Fla., native also reached the semifinals in singles at the 2022 J1 Nottingham, JB1 Indian Wells and JA Criciuma tournaments and claimed four doubles titles; 2022 JB1 Indian Wells, 2021 JB1 Nicholasville, JB1 San Diego and 2020 J3 Lousada.
Lopez is the second addition for the 2025-26 season and will join the Hurricanes in the fall.
