
Hurricanes Shine on Day Two of ACC Championships
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Five members of the Miami track and field team advanced to event finals and Maddie Scheier broke her 3000m steeplechase school record Friday on day two of the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Brittney Jennings opened the day with the third-fastest 100m hurdle prelim time of 13.35, a personal best, to advance to Saturday’s final at 6:10 p.m.
Serena Tate advanced to the women’s 400m final after finishing third in the prelims with a personal-best time of 52.03. The 400m final is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
George Franks posted the third-fastest time in school history in the men’s 400m at 46.04 and Ace Malone advanced on time at 46.46. The duo will compete at 6:40 p.m. tomorrow in the final.
Gabriella Grissom won her heat in the 800m at 2:03.11 to advance to Saturday’s final slated for 7:10 p.m.
Erikka Hill scored a point for the women’s team as she placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 15.61m.
Maddie Scheier broke her school record in the women’s 3000m steeplechase at 10:29.80, better her previous record of 10:34.72.
Miami closes out the ACC Championships on Saturday beginning with the women’s javelin at 11 a.m. The meet can be seen on ACC Network Extra while live results can be found here.
