CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami baseball team (27-18, 12-9 ACC) will host the 13th-ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack (30-13, 15-6 ACC) for a three-game series this weekend at Mark Light Field.

Miami leads the all-time series against NC State, 40-22, with the first meeting coming on May 19, 1989 — a 7-4 Hurricanes win at a neutral site in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Hurricanes hold a 22-9 advantage over their conference foe in games played at Mark Light Field.

THINGS ARE HEATING UP

The Hurricanes are 12-3 in their last 15 games and pose a 9-1 record in their last 10 contests, with infielder Daniel Cuvet, right-handed pitcher Griffin Hugus, infielder Jake Ogden and right-handed pitcher AJ Ciscar posing as leaders for the red-hot Hurricanes.

NC State, who reigns over the ACC baseball standings, is also 12-3 in their last 15 and 9-1 in their last 10. Last week, the Wolfpack swept then-No. 2 Clemson in Raleigh and have won four-straight conference series.

KEEP CRUSHIN’ IT, CUVET!

 Miami sophomore slugger Daniel Cuvet continued to be a pitcher’s nightmare, batting .313 (5-for-16) with three doubles, a clutch home run and six RBIs during four games last week. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native’s 10th home run of the season proved to be the difference in Miami’s sweep-clinching win at Fenway Park as the fly ball snuck into Fenway’s iconic Pesky’s Pole in right field.

SELFLESS PLAY, RELENTLESS EFFORT

Max Galvin, Bobby Marsh, Jake Ogden, Dorian Gonzalez Jr. and Daniel Cuvet have led the Hurricanes to offensive success as the Miami sluggers are responsible for 178 RBI and counting this season.

Daniel Cuvet, who is tied for first in the ACC in RBI (56), has 15 multiple RBI games and four where he’s tallied four RBI a piece. Bobby Marsh is behind Cuvet (38 RBI) as the designated hitter has nine multiple RBI games and five where he’s tallied four a piece.

Jake Ogden leads the Hurricanes in four major offensive categories. The UNC Greensboro transfer ranks first in at-bats (178), runs (41), hits (60), and steals (10-10). Ogden also leads the squad in multiple-hit games as the shortstop has tallied 17 multi-hit games and 14 where he’s had two hits in a game.

CAN’T STOP BRIAN

Brian Walters was moved to Miami’s closer position, a role that his brother, Andrew, proudly held.

His 2025 reliever debut was on April 4^th against Pittsburgh, where the right-hander retired three straight batters to earn the 9-4 victory for the Hurricanes. However, Brian’s streak of six straight saves in six appearances (as of May 1) occurred on April 12^th against the Duke Blue Devils at Mark Light Field when Walters struck out three of the seven batters he faced in two innings of work.
