O’Brien Cracks Into School Record Book as Hurricanes Complete Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Penn. – The University of Miami cross country team finished the Paul Short Run Saturday afternoon in Bethlehem, Penn.

The women’s team finished 30th out of 42 with 743 points while the men finished 40th out of 44 with 1125 points.

Senior Cormac O’Brien recorded the seventh-fastest 8K time in school history as the leading Miami men’s distance runner clocked a time of 25:03.05.

Senior Daphnee Lavassas was the fastest female Hurricane Saturday afternoon at 20:01.07, good for a fourth-place finish.

In two weeks, the Hurricanes will travel to Madison, Wis. to compete in the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals on Oct 19. The race will be the final regular season meet before the ACC Championships on November 1 in Raleigh, N.C.
