Noel Named Honda Sport Award Finalist
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Alexa Noel continues to add to her resume after being named a Honda Sport Award Finalist for Tennis, as announced by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards Thursday afternoon.
The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 48 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”. The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2024 Honda Cup, which will be presented during a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET, from its new home in New York City.
The tennis finalists were selected by final ITA rankings and NCAA competition. The Honda Sport award winner for tennis will be announced after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.
Noel, a redshirt junior from Summit, N.J., captured the 2024 NCAA Singles Championship after entering the tournament as the No. 8 seed. She finished the season ranked No. 3 by the ITA, her highest ranking of the season. She is a three-time ITA All-American in singles.
This is the 10th time a Hurricane is a finalist for the distinction, with Noel being the seventh Hurricane overall. She joins Lise Gregory (1985-86), Ronni Reis (1987-88), Megan Bradley (2003-04), Audra Cohen (2005-06, 2006-07), Laura Vallverdu (2008-09, 2009-10) and Estela Perez-Somarriba (2018-19, 2020-21).
