Miami Sets Program Records to Cap 2024 ACC Championship

RALEIGH, N.C. – Miami rowing set multiple records in the varsity eight boats, finishing fifth place out of nine teams in the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. The finish ties the program’s best finish in the ACC Championships since the field expanded to nine programs in 2015. 

Miami bested Clemson, UNC, Louisville and Boston College Saturday. Constance Stirling earned Second Team All-ACC honors, while Aaliah Dawson was named to the ACC First Team. Stirling is a three-time All-ACC recipient, having earned postseason honors in three-straight seasons. 

The third-varsity eight started the morning with a program record for the boat at 6:56.008, defeating last year’s mark by over 40 seconds. 

The Canes defeated UNC in the process. Miami’s second varsity four and first varsity four dominated their petite finals. UM’s second varsity four defeated Boston College by nearly 16 seconds, while the the first varsity four defeated Louisville and Boston College by sizeable margins. 

UM’s second varsity eight crossed the line in 6:33.373, defeating Notre Dame and Louisville in the grand final to set a record for the boat. 

The day was capped with another program record time as the first varsity eight boat went the distance in 6:23.427, defeating Clemson.
