Lavassas Ready to Make History at National Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Miami Hurricanes junior Daphnee Lavassas will be the second Hurricane in program history to represent Miami at the 2023 Cross Country National Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday morning.

The women’s 6K race will begin at 10:20 a.m. Eastern Time just outside of the University of Virginia at the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course. PrimeTime Timing will be the official timekeeper for this year’s championships, with live results being posted HERE.

Viewers can tune into ESPN+ Saturday morning as coverage will begin at 9:30 a.m. and can be streamed HERE.

Daphnee Lavassas has had a memorable 2023 season as the Hurricane’s star distance runner broke the program record in the women’s 6K, beating 2005’s Melanie Schultz’s time of 19:56.10 at the NCAA South Regional last week.

Lavassas joins Schultz as one of two women in program history to race at the Cross Country National Championships.
