W. Tennis Signs Maria Paula Vargas For 2023-24 Season
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami women’s tennis head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews announced Wednesday the addition of Maria Paula Vargas for the 2023-24 season.
From Cali, Colombia, Vargas recently rose to a career-high ITF junior singles and doubles ranking of 116. She comes to Miami with six junior singles titles and five doubles titles.
In 2023 alone, she notched both J60 and J100 Lima singles titles and reached seven quarterfinals or farther, as well as taking the J200 La Paz doubles title and advancing to six semifinals or better.
“I chose the University of Miami for its high academic and tennis level,” said Vargas. “It will be a new challenge for me that will take me to the limit and make me become the best version of myself.”
The Hurricanes are coming off their 20th consecutive top-25 finish after ending the year ranked No. 16 in the ITA National Rankings.
Miami will be back in action in January for the spring season. The full schedule will be released at a later time.
