Five Hurricanes Earn All-ACC Academic Team Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Following strong performances in the classroom and on the golf course, a program-record five Hurricanes were tabbed to the 2023 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the league Tuesday.

Fourth-year juniors Daniella Barrett and Franziska Sliper, third-year sophomore Sara Byrne and freshmen Katie Carman and Elisa Villamizar all earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team, marking the first time five Hurricanes have appeared on the list.

This is the second All-ACC Academic Team plaudit for Byrne, while the other five are first-time honorees.

Barrett and Sliper graduated in May with degrees in psychology and finance, respectively. Barrett earned a spot on the Dean’s List (3.5+ GPA) this semester, while Sliper was named to the Provost’s Honor Roll (3.75+ GPA) for her academic achievements.

Byrne is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting and has made the Provost’s Honor Roll each of the last two semesters. The Douglas, Cork, Ireland native advanced to the NCAA National Championship as an individual this spring, after finishing as the top individual at the Palm Beach Regional.

In her first year as a Hurricane, Carman posted a 3.94 GPA to earn a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team and the Provost’s Honor Roll. Fellow freshman Elisa Villamizar was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester and is pursuing a finance degree.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
