Canes to Compete in Regular Season Finale Friday
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Four top-10 women’s 6K times propelled the University of Miami women’s cross-country team to a win at the highly competitive Paul Short Run just two weeks ago.
This week, the team will conclude its regular season on Friday in Charlottesville, Va., at the XC23 Invitational, hosted by Virginia, with the men competing in the 8K and the women competing in the 5K.
Racing is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. with the men’s 8K, followed by the women’s 5K at 5 p.m.
The women’s squad, ranked 14th in the South Region, will race against three regionally ranked teams – No. 6 George Washington (Mid-Atlantic), No. 12 Virginia (Southeast) and No. 6 Yale (Northeast). Remaining teams competing in the women’s field include Eastern Kentucky, Loyola (Md.), Norfolk State, VCU and William and Mary.
On the men’s side, Miami will race six teams ranked in their region – No. 5 Penn (Mid Atlantic), No. 12 George Washington (Mid Atlantic), No. 1 Villanova (Mid Atlantic), No. 9 Yale (Northeast), No. 12 Virginia (Southeast) and No. 13 William and Mary (Southeast). Other teams racing in the men’s field include Eastern Kentucky, Loyola (Md.), Norfolk State and VCU.
