Golf in 13th at Schooner Fall Classic
NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Miami golf team is tied for 13th through two rounds of play at the Schooner Fall Classic, held at the par-70, 6,048-yard Belmar Golf Club. Miami shot five-over-par 285 as a team on Saturday, and sit at 23-over 583 after 36 completed holes.
“Today was much better, but we still aren’t where we should be,” Miami head coach Patti Rizzo said. “Yesterday killed us. So, tomorrow is just about passing as may teams as possible.”
After carding a trio of birdies and finishing at even-par on Friday, Renate Grimstad continued to lead the charge for Miami adding four more birdies to her name. Overall, the senior sits in a tie for ninth at 1-under 139 through 36 holes.
Finishing Saturday at one-over-par, junior Kristyna Frydlova moves into a tie for 26th with a two-day total of three-over 143.
Rebounding from a slow start on Friday, Anna Backman collected a birdie and finished two-over-par to move nine spots up the leaderboard. Overall, with a tally of 11-over 151, the sophomore sits in a tie for 64th.
Notching three birdies, freshman Daniella Barrett capped the afternoon scoring three-over and sits in 63rd at 10-over, 150.
Rounding out the Hurricanes’ lineup, freshman Morgan Pankow sits in 80th at 27-over, 167.
