CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team is heavily featured in the final Oracle/ITA Southeast Region rankings, as announced late Wednesday night.

This is the lone set of regional rankings of the year, as all prior lists throughout the season are national.

On the team list, Miami finished fourth. The Hurricanes continued their streak of finishing top-five in the region every year since shifting to the Southeast in 2010. Miami has also placed top-four in all but one of those campaigns.

Individually, junior Estela Perez-Somarriba came in at second in the singles rankings. The lone player ahead of her is Georgia’s Katarina Jokic, who placed first nationally despite Perez-Somarriba defeating her head-to-head in the NCAA Singles Championship title match.

Freshman Daevenia Achong also earned a spot on the year-end regional singles list, as she received the No. 16 position.

Achong also took a spot near the top of the doubles rankings with teammate Daniella Roldan, a senior. The duo came in fourth in the Southeast Region, the top finish for a Miami pair since Stephanie Wagner and Wendy Zhang came in second in 2016.

The final national rankings were released in May. Along with Perez-Somarriba placing second, Achong took the No. 123 spot in singles, while checking in at No. 25 in doubles with Roldan. As a team, the Hurricanes earned their 17th straight top-25 finish, coming in at No. 20.
