CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Talking Track is a series that features current members of the Miami track and field program, while taking a deeper look into what makes their time at the U special.  
 
In this week’s edition, we get to hear from senior Carolyn Brown and her favorite experiences with Miami leading up to her final conference meet as a Cane.  
 
Q: Which season do you prefer, indoor or outdoor? 
A: Indoor
 
Q: Why? 
A: The weather doesn’t play a factor in indoor season, I love traveling to colder areas for meets and I enjoy running the 60m. 
 
Q: What’s your favorite event to run?
A: That’s tough. It would be a tie between the 60 and the 4×1. 
 
Q: What is your favorite memory of being a Cane so far? 
A: I would have to say this past indoor ACC championship meet at Virginia Tech. It really was a nail biter and came down to the end of the meet. Plus, I was in my home state and was able to run in front of my family. 
 
Q: What has been your favorite track to run on? 
A: My favorite track to run on is Clemson’s track indoor track. 
 
Q: What was it like medaling individually for the first time during the indoor season? 
A: It was certainly an emotional moment for me, really bitter sweet. 
 
Q: Do you have any pre-meet rituals?
A: I have to eat the same breakfast, listen to the same songs and of course, beat my face with makeup. 
 
Q: If you weren’t running track, what sport would you be doing?
A:  I would be cheerleading #cheerwaslife 
 
Q: Who do you look up to?
A: Athletically, I would say Serena Williams, but overall my mom without question. 
 
Q: What are your goals this weekend at ACCs?
A: Of course, win both of my events and secure another team title, but more importantly, put down faster times heading into regionals and nationals. 
 
Q: What motivates you to keep going?
 A: This year it’s been really simple, to go out with a bang. This is my last season and I don’t want to leave with any regrets. 
 
Q: What’s your favorite thing about Coach Deem? 
A: My favorite thing about Coach Deem would be her attention to detail with everything we do on and off the track. It has really helped with shaping this winning program. 
 
Q: Do you have any emotions going into your final ACC Championships? 
A: A lot for sure, I’m home again here at UVA so I’m more calm and relaxed but I’m ready to just put on a show and let the chips fall where they may. I might cry at the end of the meet so we’ll see.
