Miami Golf Ranked No. 20 in WGCA Coaches Poll
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the second consecutive WGCA Coaches Poll, the University of Miami golf team cracks the country’s top-20 list at No. 20, as announced Friday afternoon by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
The Hurricanes gained 13 votes since the previous poll released on March 15, coming in with 119 tallies. Overall, it is the third and penultimate poll of the spring season.
Miami is one of five ACC teams represented in the top 25 of this edition of the rankings, including second-ranked Duke, fifth-ranked Wake Forest, No. 10 Florida State and No. 17 Virginia. Meanwhile, Clemson is listed No. 28 with six votes.
In their most recent competition April 1-2, the Hurricanes capped the 2018-19 regular season with a fifth-place finish at the Bruzzy Invitational, while junior Renate Grimstad recorded her ninth-career top-10 performance.
Competing at the par 72, 6,421-yard Lantana Golf Club, the Hurricanes closed out the two-day event with a score of five-over 869. Individually, the Bergen, Norway, native tied for sixth with a score of three-under 213.
Next week, Miami will tee off at the ACC Championships in Greensboro, N.C., with the three-day event beginning Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Sedgefield Country Club.
Seeded fifth, the Canes will compete alongside student-athletes from fourth-seeded Virginia and sixth-seeded Clemson, as the three schools will start on the 10th hole between 9 and 9:40 a.m. For more information on the ACC Championship CLICK HERE.
