CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will begin play Thursday at the Florida Sunshine Classic.

No. 24/23 Miami (9-2) will face Vanderbilt at 8:30 p.m. in the final game of the day in Winter Park, Fla. The Hurricanes also competed in the event, held at Rollins College’s Warden Arena, back in 2015.

The action will be televised on FloHoops HERE, as well as carried live on WVUM 90.5 FM HERE. Live stats for the game can be found HERE.

Miami sports a 1-0 mark in its all-time series with Vanderbilt, including a 1-0 ledger in regular season action and a 0-1 record on a neutral court. Most recently, the Hurricanes logged a 79-57 home victory over the Commodores on Dec. 29, 2003.

In their last outing, the Hurricanes recorded a 71-53 triumph over Maryland Eastern Shore Sunday at the Watsco Center. Senior forward/center Emese Hof led all scorers with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor. Redshirt junior forward Beatrice Mompremier notched a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, while sophomore guard Mykea Gray added 12 points.

Vanderbilt is 4-6 thus far in the 2018-19 season and is led in points (16.1) and rebounds (7.9) per game by redshirt junior forward Mariella Fasoula, whom the Hurricanes played twice when she was at Boston College. After posting a 7-24 (3-13 SEC) record a year ago, Vanderbilt was tabbed No. 13 in the SEC preseason poll.

After taking on the Commodores, the Hurricanes are right back in action Friday for their second game in as many days against an SEC foe at the Florida Sunshine Classic, as they meet Alabama at 6:15 p.m.
