Canes Golf Holds Eighth Place at ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Miami golf team carded a 15-over-par 303 Sunday in the second round of the 2018 ACC Championships at the par-72, 6,122-yard Grandover Resort East Course in Greensboro, N.C. Miami dropped to eighth place in the team standings after 36 holes.
The final 18 holes will be contested Monday. The Hurricanes are slated to tee off at 8:50 a.m. on the 10th tee and are paired with Virginia Tech and Louisville for the third round. “Not a great day for us today,” Miami head coach Patti Rizzo said. “I think everyone is trying too hard. Tomorrow we need to just get the fluid motion going and keep it going from there.”
Kristyna Frydlova and Renate Grimstad each shot 3-over 75 in the second round. Frydlova is tied for 18th place through two rounds at 4-over par (148), while Grimstad is tied for 27th at 6-over (150).
Dewi Weber leads Miami in the individual standings at 2-over 146 after firing a 4-over 76 Sunday. She is tied for 12th place. Freshman Serena Hou accounted for Miami’s fourth score of the day after recording a 77 (+5). She stands in 60th place overall at 22-over. Macarena Aguilera tallied an 84 (+12) Sunday and stands in 57th place at 18-over.
Duke leads Florida State by 17 strokes after 36 holes after recording a 7-under 281 on Sunday. The Blue Devils’ Leona Maguire is the individual leader at 7-under 137 after recording a 2-under 70 in the second round.
