CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team shot an 8-over-par 296 Saturday in the first round of the 2018 ACC Championships at the par-72, 6,122-yard Grandover Resort East Course in Greensboro, N.C. Miami played its best golf on the back nine, shooting 2-under par to move up the leaderboard and end the round in fourth place.
 
Miami opens Round 2 at 9 a.m. Sunday on the first tee. Live scoring for the tournament is available HERE. The final round is scheduled for an 8:30 tee time on Monday. Broadcast coverage is available Sunday and Monday afternoon through ACC Network Extra, which is available to online users via WatchESPN. Coverage begins at 2 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. Monday.
 
“After nine, I thought ‘oh my gosh,’ but the back nine was awesome,” Miami head coach Patti Rizzo said. “I’m very proud of them.”
 
Junior Dewi Weber led Miami with a 70 (-2) in the opening round and is tied for third place. One of just seven players in the red after Day 1, Weber recorded six birdies on the day. After shooting 5-over on the front nine, freshman Kristyna Frydlova went 4-under on the back nine as she finished with a 1-over 73 and a 12th-place tie.
 
Sophomore Renate Grimstad carded a 3-over 75 and is tied for 23rd place, while sophomore Macarena Aguilera shot a 6-over 78 and is tied for 47th after the first round. Freshman Serena Hou fired an 89 and is in 60th place.
 
Duke leads Clemson by four strokes after the first round after recording a 6-under 282. The Blue Devils’ Leona Maguire is the individual leader after carding a 5-under 67.
