CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Coming off a road win Monday at Notre Dame, the Miami men’s basketball team comes home Saturday for a key ACC contest against Boston College. Game time is 2 p.m. The ACC’s Regional Sports Networks have the television broadcast (FOX Sports Sun and FOX Sports South in South Florida), while WQAM 560-AM has the local radio broadcast. The game also streams online on ACC Network Extra through the WatchESPN app (subject to blackout).
Fans wishing to attend home Miami basketball games this season are encouraged to use StubHub, the official secondary ticket market for Miami Athletics, to purchase single-game tickets, as season tickets are sold out.
The teams are meeting for the second time in two weeks. Boston College used a game-ending 7-0 surge over the final game’s six minutes to come away with a 72-70 victory on Feb. 10 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Hurricanes (19-8, 8-7 ACC) broke a three-game losing streak with a 77-74 triumph at Notre Dame Monday. Miami shot 53.6 percent and got big performances from Lonnie Walker IV (19 points) and Ebuka Izundu (14 points, eight rebounds) in the victory. Izundu made his first start of the season and scored 10 of his points in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Miami is seeking its sixth 20-win season in Jim Larrañaga’s seven seasons at the helm of the program.
Overall this season Miami is averaging 73.9 points per game and allowing 66.4 per game. Dewan Huell leads the Hurricanes in scoring at 11.5 points per game, while Walker is scoring 11.4 per game. Walker leads the Canes in scoring in ACC play with 13.7 points per game, while fellow freshman Chris Lykes is averaging 11.1 points per game. Anthony Lawrence II is recording 9.7 points and a team-leading 7.2 rebounds per game in conference action.
Boston College (16-12, 6-9 ACC) fell 82-66 at North Carolina State Tuesday. The Eagles are led by one of the nation’s best backcourts in Jerome Robinson (20.5 ppg) and Ky Bowman (16.6 ppg, 6.9 rpg). The duo combined for 53 points in the Feb. 10 win over Miami, including Bowman’s tie-breaking free throws with 2.9 seconds remaining.
Boston College holds a 25-23 edge in the all-time series with Miami, although the Hurricanes own a 15-9 advantage since the programs joined the ACC. BC’s win in the last meeting snapped Miami’s 12-game winning streak in the series. Four of the last five meetings have been determined by four points or fewer, including the Canes’ 78-77 win in the BC’s last trip to Coral Gables on Jan. 25, 2017.
Miami enters the final week of the regular season on Tuesday when it travels to No. 10 North Carolina for a 9 p.m. game. The Hurricanes then return home Saturday (March 3) to battle Virginia Tech in a noon contest.
