No. 25 Women’s Golf Tied for Sixth at Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate
NEW ORLEANS – The No. 25-ranked University of Miami women’s golf team moved into a sixth-place tie on day two at 2018 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate after it fired a score of 303.
After two rounds of competition, the Hurricanes hold an overall tally of 598 and are tied with SMU.
Junior Dewi Weber and sophomore Renate Grimstad both charged up the leaderboard to highlight day two of competition for the Hurricanes.
Weber posted a one-under-par score of 71 to move 23 spots up the leaderboard where she is now tied for eighth.
The Netherlands native improved three strokes from the previous day. She currently owns a two-day total of 145. Weber notched a pair of birdies on the day and finished with par on 15 holes.
Weber enters final round competition just seven strokes off the pace of tournament leader Sierra Brooks from Florida (138).
Grimstad carded her second straight score of 73 and currently sits in 11th place. The Norway native shot one-over-par on the front nine, but then responded on the back nine by shooting even par.
Rounding out the Hurricanes top five was freshman Kristyna Frydlova (tied for 42nd, 153), sophomore Macarena Aguilera (tied for 51st, 154) and freshman Roos Haarman (89th, 173).
Florida holds the team lead after two days with a tournament total of 584.
The three-day event is being held at the par 72, 6,239-yard English Turn Golf and Country Club.
Round two competition begins tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Live scoring for the tournament will be available at Golfstat.com.
