Miami Announces 2018 Football Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami released its 2018 football schedule Wednesday, highlighted by a nationally televised, season-opening matchup with LSU, as well as six home games at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Hurricanes kick off the 2018 season on Sunday, Sept. 2, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, against the Tigers in the 2018 AdvoCare Classic – UM’s first meeting with LSU since the 2005 Peach Bowl and the first regular season meeting between the two schools since 1988. The game will be televised on ABC at 7:30 p.m. ET. Miami’s last visit to the Dallas area was its 1991 Cotton Bowl win over Texas.

Miami’s home schedule includes non-conference games against FIU and Savannah State, as well as games against ACC rivals Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and Pittsburgh. The Hurricanes posted a 7-0 regular season mark at Hard Rock Stadium in 2017.

Miami enters the 2018 campaign following a strong 2017 season in which the Hurricanes posted a 10-3 record – UM’s first 10-win season since 2003 – and won the ACC Coastal Division title for the first time in school history. Head coach Mark Richt was named ACC Coach of the Year and Walter Camp National Coach of the Year.

The Hurricanes open their 2018 home slate against Savannah State on Sept. 8, the second meeting between the two schools. Miami defeated the Tigers, 77-7, in 2013.

The Hurricanes make their first visit to Toledo on Sept. 15 to face a Rockets team they defeated 52-30 at Hard Rock Stadium last season. Miami then returns home on Sept. 22 to host FIU, coached by former Hurricanes head coach Butch Davis. UM last played FIU in 2007, a 23-9 victory.

Miami will face a quick turnaround after FIU, hosting a Thursday night game on Sept. 27 against North Carolina. The Hurricanes last hosted a Thursday night game at Hard Rock Stadium in 2012, a 30-12 win over Virginia Tech. Miami then hosts in-state rival Florida State on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Hurricanes snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Seminoles last season with a 24-20 victory in Tallahassee, Fla., and lead the all-time series, 32-30.

The Hurricanes hit the road for four of their next five games, starting with a trek to Charlottesville, Va., on Oct. 13 to face Virginia. The Hurricanes have won three consecutive games against the Cavaliers.

Miami has its bye week on Oct. 20 before a visit to Boston College on Friday, Oct. 26. The Hurricanes last faced the Eagles in 2012, and lead the all-time series, 24-5. The game marks the second consecutive season Miami has played a Friday road contest. UM won at Duke last season, 31-6, on a Friday night.

The Hurricanes host the Blue Devils on Nov. 3, seeking their fourth consecutive win over Duke. Miami then faces back-to-back Coastal Division road encounters at Georgia Tech (Nov. 10) and Virginia Tech (Nov. 17). The Hurricanes have won three of their last four in Atlanta, but have dropped three of their last four in Blacksburg, Va.

Miami wraps up its 2018 regular season schedule at home against Pittsburgh on Nov. 24. This will be the fifth time in the last six years that the Hurricanes finish the regular season against the Panthers.
