CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami women’s tennis standouts Estela Perez-Somarriba and Sinead Lohan have been selected as All-ACC Academic Team honorees, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Perez-Somarriba is the first Miami freshman to receive the accolade since Stephanie Wagner in 2013, while Lohan is on the list for the second year in a row.

The Hurricanes are one of nine schools with multiple honorees and this is the 11th straight year Miami has had at least two players recognized.

In the 12 years the team has been named, Hurricanes have now totaled 39 distinctions. Perez-Somarriba is the 17th different Miami player to receive the accolade and Lohan is the 12th to do so multiple times.

An ITA All-American who finished the year ranked No. 26, Perez-Somarriba posted a 34-7 singles record in her opening collegiate campaign. In the spring, she went 27-4, including 12-2 against ranked players, and became the first freshman in program history to reach the NCAA Singles Championship semifinals.

Academically, Perez-Somarriba concluded her opening year at Miami with a glistening 3.925 GPA. Majoring in economics and minoring in sport administration, the Madrid native earned Provost’s Honor Roll (min. 3.75 GPA) in each of her first two semesters.

Lohan, who joined Perez-Somarriba as a First Team All-ACC pick, ended her junior campaign ranked No. 21 in the country. She became the fourth Hurricane with three top-25 finishes and the ninth to amass 100 singles victories in her career, as well as eclipsed 50 triumphs over ranked opponents.

In the classroom, the Waterford, Ireland, registered a stellar 3.467 GPA during the 2016-17 school year. Lohan, who is majoring in economics, is a four-time Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (min. 3.2 GPA) honoree.
