CORAL GABLES, Fla. One day after being tabbed as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, Gracie Lachowecki of the University of Miami soccer team pulled in another major accolade.

The senior forward from Evansville, Ind., was tabbed as a Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honorable mention.

For Lachowecki, the recognition is the first weekly national honor of her illustrious career at Miami. The ACC award was her third weekly conference distinction.

Lachowecki scored in both of Miami’s matches last week, aiding the team to a 2-1 win over second-ranked Virginia and a 2-0 triumph against Syracuse. The victories helped Miami begin ACC play with wins in two of its first three matches for the third time in program history.

“Gracie came up big this weekend, scoring when we needed her to,” Miami head coach Mary-Frances Monroe said. “She is playing very well and I am proud of her.”

Lachowecki’s tally against Syracuse gave her 20 goals in her career, moving her into a tie with Jennifer Sanchez for fifth place on Miami’s all-time list and making her one of six Hurricanes to notch 20 goals.

The Hurricanes will return to the field Sunday at 2 p.m., when they take on Wake Forest at Cobb Stadium to conclude a three-match homestand.
