Four Canes in Clay Court Classic This Weekend
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Four Hurricanes will represent the University of Miami men’s tennis team this weekend at the Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in Sarasota, Fla.
Max Andrews, Niclas Genovese, Christian Langmo and Bernard Tefel will be in action at the only ITA/NCAA clay court tournament in the country. They will compete against some of the country’s best players from Oklahoma State, Furman, Naval Academy, College of Charleston, Michigan, Arizona, Princeton, North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, Duke and Minnesota.
Langmo earned the second seed in the tournament while teammate Max Andrews is seeded third in main draw singles. The duo also earned the two-seed in doubles.
Langmo will face Alberto De Meo of UNF and Andrews will compete against Lubomir Cuba of Michigan in the Round of 32. Genovese takes on top-seeded Tom Colautti of Princeton and Tefel will battle Tyler Gardiner of Michigan.
In doubles, Andrews and Langmo face Juan Estevarena and Vasily Kichigin of Charleston while Genovese and Tefel take on Carter Lin and Kevin Wong of Michigan.

The men open play on Friday with first round doubles action at 9 a.m., followed by first round singles play at noon. The men’s second round main draw and first round consolation will be played at 4 p.m. Friday. Saturday will see semi-final doubles (9 a.m.), quarterfinal singles (noon) and semi-final singles (4 p.m.). The finals will be played at noon on Sunday at The Athletic Center at Lakewood Ranch.
The Lakewood Ranch Clay Court Classic will be Miami’s final event of the fall season. The Canes will open play this spring on Jan. 16, when Miami faces St. John’s at 1 p.m. in Coral Gables, Fla.
