Canes in Eighth Place at #ACCWGolf

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 26-ranked University of Miami women’s golf team sits in eighth place following day one competition at the 2015 ACC Championship. The two-day event is being held at the par 72, 6,089-yard Sedgefield Country Club.

The Hurricanes played 27 holes during day one competition. Miami opened the first 18 holes of the tournament with 294 tally. The next nine holes saw Miami post a team total of 142.

Sophomore Daniela Darquea led the way for the Hurricanes as she posted a 27-hole total of 107. The Miami sophomore shot a one-under-par score of 71 through 18 holes. Through nine holes in round two, Darquea is one over par after she shot 36.

Sitting just three strokes behind Darquea are teammates Leticia Ras-Anderica and Delfina Acosta as both carded day one totals of 110 and are tied for 27th.

The University of Virginia sits atop the team leaderboard with a score of 419. Duke’s Leona Maguire leads all individuals with a day one total of 101.

This year’s tournament features eight teams that are ranked in the Top 50 of the latest Golfstat.com poll.

Day two competition will continue Saturday morning at 9:10 a.m.
