Canes Finish Fifth at SMU Invitational
DALLAS – The University of Miami women’s golf team tied for fifth at the 2015 SMU Invitational. The No. 27-ranked Hurricanes tallied a three-round total score of 900.
The two-day event was held at the par 72, 6,301-yard Dallas Athletic Club.
Seniors Rika Park (Fujieda Shi-Shizouka, Japan) and Leticia Ras-Anderica (Moraira, Spain) led the Hurricanes as they finished the tournament tied for seventh with scores of six-over-par (222). Park had a strong final round, as she shot two-under-par (70) and was one of six golfers to shoot under par in the third round. Ras-Anderica shot even par in her second and third rounds.
Sophomore Delfina Acosta (Nicanor Otamendi, Argentina) tied for 29th after scoring a final round of 76 and a three-round total of 227.
Sophomore Daniela Darquea (Quito, Ecuador) posted a three-round total of 229 and finished tied for 35th.
No. 14-ranked Oklahoma State won the entire tournament after carding a three-round score of eleven-over-par (875). Purdue’s August Kim and Kansas’ Yupaporn Kawinpakorn tied for first after three-rounds shooting one-under-par (215), but Kim took home the individual championship on a playoff hole.
The Hurricanes return to action next weekend on April 17-19 as they take part in the 2015 ACC Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
