Cross Country Travels to Mountain Dew Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami cross country program heads to Gainesville this weekend to compete in the UF Mountain Dew Invitational.

The Canes have 14 student-athletes slated to compete in the Mountain Dew Invitational, seven men and seven women. Twenty-seven men’s teams are slated to compete in the 8K race, which begins at 7:55 a.m. On the women’s side, 29 schools are scheduled to run a 5K at 8:30 a.m. The Mountain Dew Invitational is run at the Mark Bostic Golf Course on Florida’s campus.

“This meet will be a good indicator of where we are as a team,” Miami distance coach Damon Griffiths said. “ The competition level will be the deepest so far this season. They need to show both their physical and mental toughness this week.”

Miami’s men will be led by seniors Douglas Dourado and JaCee Jarnagin. Dourado won the season opening FAU Invitational and posted the second-best time on the team at the USF Invitational two weeks ago. Jarnagin is an accomplished runner, ranking seventh in school history in the 10K.

On the women’s side, senior Julia Koch will make her season debut. Freshman Mulloy Manning is another Cane to watch after posting the second-best times on the team in each of the first two races of the season.

Men’s Entries: Sean Grossman, Adam George, Jon Keller, Douglas Dourado, AJ Ricketts, Kevin Marsh, JaCee Jarnagin

Women’s Entries: Gabrielle Hesslau, Mulloy Manning, Janine Depree, Frida Carlsson, Julia Koch, Kaitlin Hill, Kelly Williamson
