CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Digital Wave Productions has won a Suncoast Emmy Award for the Best Sports Daily or Weekly Program for “Hurricane Game Day, Beating Number One,” a behind-the-scenes feature on the University of Miami men’s basketball program. 

Last January, the Hurricanes defeated No. 1 Duke by 27 points in the BankUnited Center. Digital Wave Productions, Inc. of West Palm Beach, Fla., followed the Canes the day of the game, videoing the team every step of the way.

The feature, which was produced by Raymond Colaiacovo shot by Colaiacovo and Jon Arrivo of Digital Wave Productions, received the Emmy on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Fla.

“I knew we had something special here once the Canes not only beat Duke, but completely outplayed them,” said Colaiacovo. “In my 15 years of television, this is the first time I knew in my heart that I should submit this feature for contention.”

The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences celebrates the best of television news in markets throughout the state of Florida, as well as markets in Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and Puerto Rico.
