Miami Continues Streak of Top 10 Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami continued its Top 10 ranking for the fourth-straight week as the Hurricanes were voted No. 5 in the AP and No. 7 in the USA TODAY Coaches polls released Monday.
The Canes first broke into the Top 10 on Feb. 4 as the AP’s No. 8 team, then made program history last week by earning a No. 2 ranking in both the AP and USA TODAY Coaches polls.
Two weeks ago, the Canes were ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll and No. 4 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll. It was the first time in school history that Miami earned a Top 5 ranking in men’s basketball.
According to research by the AP, Miami (1998-99, 2012-13) is now the third Power 6 school in the last 15 years to have at least two seasons of double-digit road victories, joining Duke (98-99, 99-00, 2000-01 and 05-06) and Stanford (1998-99, 99-00, 2000-01 and 03-04). No other BCS school in that span has done it more than once.
No. 5/7 Miami next hosts Virginia Tech on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the BankUnited Center.
The Hurricanes are 12-0 at the BankUnited Center in 2012-13 and have notched double-digit home wins at the BankUnited in six-straight seasons and nine times in 10 full seasons calling the arena home.
