How did you become aHurricanes fan?
“I’vebeen a Cane for as long as I can remember. We’ve been fans ever since my motherbegan working on campus when I was five years old with the dream that one day shewould give me the gift of a free UM education. I graduated in 2010 after spendingthe best four years of my life bleeding orange and green.”

Do you find itdifficult supporting Miami all the way from Tally?
“Somewhat.Tallahassee is Nole Country. At the beginning I felt like a traitor moving upto Tallahassee for a graduate program at Florida State University. There wasway too much garnet and gold and not enough orange and green.

“Now, two yearslater, I work full time at FSU and my students often ask who I cheer for whenthe two teams play. My answer: ‘I’m a Miami Hurricane.’ Istill rock my UM wardrobe in Tallahassee despite the crazy stares.”

Is there a place you visit to watch Hurricanes games in the city?
“Imostly watch the games from home whereI can cheer as loud as I want.”

Have you found any other Hurricanes fans in Tallahassee?
“Ihaven’t found many other UM fans in Tallahassee except my best friend and UMgraduate, Melissa Caride, who also moved to Tallahassee for a graduate program.Together we watched the Canes on television wishing we we could be at Sun Life Stadiumto cheer them on.”

How do you support the Hurricanes – Any apartmentdecorations? Favorite piece of Canes gear? Travel for games?
“Mygym in Tallahassee, Sweat Therapy Fitness, encourages us to wear our teamcolors to group classes on game day Saturdays. I always rock my orange andgreen.

“Inaddition my office is decked out in UM gear with my diploma hanging proudly onthe wall. My computer desktop picture is Lake Osceola and Stanford ResidentialCollege, where I served as an Resident Assistant for three years. I always go to theFSU/UM game every year whether it’s in Miami or Tallahassee. Looking forward tothis year’s game!”

Any favorite memories or stories from your time as aHurricanes fan? 
“Myfavorite memory is the feeling of riding the Metrorail to the Orange Bowl ongame day Saturdays with all my friends. The sense of pride I experienced as Ilooked down the cars and saw nothing but a sea of orange is hard to putinto words. 

“Anotherfavorite memory is taking my floor of freshmen residents to their first UM gameeach year and seeing their faces light up as they watched the Canes run out ofthe smoke tunnel. Nomatter where I live, I am and always will be a Miami Hurricane!”
