CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst announced the hiring of Jennifer Strawley to the position of Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration & Student Excellence/Senior Woman Administrator.
“We are extremely fortunate and thrilled that Jennifer Strawley will be joining our senior management team at the U,” said Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst. “She is a very talented and experienced administrator who brings a great deal to the table.”
Strawley is concluding her second tour with the NCAA as the Director of Academic and Membership Affairs. In this role, Strawley has been instrumental in providing leadership in the areas of academic governance and development of academic policy. She was the staff liaison to the NCAA Division I Committee on Academic Performance and the NCAA Division I Academic Cabinet.
Strawley also managed national office partnerships and outreach to various academic and faculty associations. She served on the steering committee to review the Academic and Membership Affairs department’s business practices examining the department’s operations, efficiencies and structure and is involved in a variety of other departmental internal operations, including coordinating the internal operations for the department’s senior management team.

Strawley will officially join UM on June 18th and begin oversight of the following areas:

+ Senior Staff Gender, Equity & Student-Athlete Welfare Committee, Chair
+ Coaches Meeting Coordinator
+ Sport Oversight: Women’s Basketball, Women’s & Men’s Tennis, Women’s Swimming and Women’s & Men’s Diving
+ Student-Athlete Discipline
+ Student Affairs and Housing Liaison
+ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Liaison
Strawley rejoined the NCAA after serving as the Associate Athletics Director for Intercollegiate Sport Programs and senior woman administrator at Columbia University from 2007-10. While at Columbia, she oversaw numerous varsity sport programs including football and was the athletics program liaison for gender equity and diversity issues. Jennifer served as liaison to the Faculty Athletics Committee, Equity Subcommittee, the Football Advisory Committee and the Varsity C Alumni Group. She also served as a liaison to offices of admissions and financial aid. Jennifer was a member of the steering committee during the NCAA athletics certification process and a member of the department’s Executive Management Team.
Prior to her tenure at Columbia, Jennifer was the Director of Membership Services and Student-Athlete Reinstatement at the NCAA. In this role, she provided oversight of the student-athlete reinstatement process and was instrumental in the implementation of the student first philosophy. During this time Jennifer served as a liaison to numerous NCAA committees and task forces, including the NCAA Divisions I, II and III Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committees, the NCAA Olympic Sports Liaison Committee, the United States Olympic Committee/NCAA Task Force and the working group appointed to review trends in initial eligibility.
Jennifer first joined the NCAA in 1998 as an enforcement services intern. She is a 1998 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in history. During her time at Pennsylvania, she was a two-year captain for the Quakers’ softball team.
