Canes in the NBA – April 26, 2012
James Jones
The Heat are trying every possible combination to figure out the most productive rotation going into the playoffs. Spoelstra’s quest for which players should come off the bench in the playoffs and the late season injury bug have been the key to James Jones getting more minutes. In the last five games he has averaged 25 minutes, a great leap from his season average of 12. Jones has shot 31 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three-point line in his last 10 games. Considering the Miami Heat’s depth at the two/three, spot Jones will have to showcase his abilities in the final games of the season to see serious playoff minutes.
Jones attended the University of Miami from 1999-2003. He started every game his sophomore junior and senior season with the Hurricanes, racking up a total of 1,356 points. He was picked 49th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. He has played on four teams throughout his professional career and has now made his way back to his roots in Miami.

John Salmons

He finishes the season averaging 7.5 points per game, shooting 41 percent from the field and clocking 27 minutes per game.
Salmons attended the University of Miami from 1998-2002.
