CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 36 University of Miami men’s tennis team will host its second of four straight home matches this Friday, Feb. 24 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center as they take on the University of Central Florida Knights at 2 p.m.

The Hurricanes (4-2, 0-1) enter the match after defeating the No. 56 USF Bulls 5-2 last Saturday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The team started slow against the Bulls as they lost the doubles point, but quickly rebounded as they won five out of six singles matches.

Marco Stancati had a great day against USF as he earned wins in both singles and doubles play. He earned the clinching victory as he defeated Oliver Pramming 6-2, 4-6 and 7-6. Stancati also paired up with Victor Mauz to earn the lone doubles victory of the day for the Canes.

Gabriel Flores, Omar Aly, Diego Soto and Mauz all also earned victories in singles play en route to the victory over USF.

UCF (2-4, 0-1) comes to Coral Gables on a three-match losing streak as they have lost to Louisiana-Lafayette, Tulane and North Florida. The Knights are on a two-match road trip as they will also travel to Florida Atlantic before returning home for eight straight matches in Orlando, Fla.

In their last match, against North Florida, the Knights were only able to manage two points as they lost 4-2. Rain cancelled doubles play, but Juan Bolona and Joe Delinks earned the team’s victories at the No. 5 and 6 positions, respectively.

Following Friday’s match against UCF, the Hurricanes will host two more home matches against North Florida on Sun., Feb. 26 at 10 a.m., and ACC foe No. 32 Florida State on Sun., March 4 at 3:30 p.m.
