Hurricane Hotline to Feature New Format This Fall

CORAL GABLES, Fla.- Hurricane Hotline, the University of Miami’s weekly radio show on 560 WQAM, is moving to Tuesdays and Wednesdays this fall and will feature a new and improved format.
The show, which will air live from Monty’s in Coconut Grove for a second straight year, will now include weekly segments with head football coach Al Golden, an assistant football coach and a round-table of football student-athletes.
The season-opening show is slated for Tuesday, Aug. 30, six days before the Canes open their 2011 season at Maryland on Labor Day night.
A Canes Pep Rally will be held around five of the shows this fall, with the first coming during the initial show. The other four pep rallies will be held prior to games against Ohio State (show airs 9/13), Virginia Tech (show airs 10/4), Florida State (show airs 11/9) and prior to the ACC Championship game (show airs 11/30).
Legendary offensive line coach Art Kehoe is slated to join hosts Joe Zagacki and Don Bailey Jr. for the season-opening show, while defensive line coach Jethro Franklin is scheduled to be on prior to Miami’s home-opener against the Buckeyes.
The show will center around the football program this fall, but will also include coverage of UM’s other fall sports, including volleyball and soccer. The show will shift its focus to basketball in the winter months and eventually baseball in the spring as it has done in the past.
Fans attending the weekly shows at Monty’s will get a chance to meet members of the football staff, ask questions live on the air and win prizes from the WQAM staff throughout the event.
