| Gainesville, Fla. – The No. 2 seed Miami Hurricanes and No. 2 overall seed Florida Gators meet in the winner’s bracket of the Gainesville [Fla.] Regional in a game televised on ESPNU at McKethan Stadium at 4 p.m.
Miami (37-21) will look to slow down the SEC Champion Florida Gators (46-16) and ace pitcher Hudson Randall (9-3, 2.25 ERA). The Hurricanes will use right-hand sophomore Eric Whaley (7-5, 2.55 ERA) on the mound to try and take their first win against the Gators in Gainesville since sweeping the Gators in a three-game set in March 2009. Randall shut down the Hurricanes with a one-hitter earlier this year in March in a true pitcher’s duel against Miami sophomore E.J. Encinosa. Dale Carey was the only Hurricane player to reach base twice on the day – getting hit by a pitch and collecting the team’s only hit. The Canes won their opening game of the Gainesville Regional on Friday against Jacksonville, 7-2, behind the pitching performance of Steven Ewing and the hitting of Zeke DeVoss and freshman catcher Corey Janson. Meanwhile, the Gators had little trouble dispatching the No. 4 seed Manhattan Jaspers, taking down the MAAC champs by a score of 17-3. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU and ESPN3 (http://espn.go.com/espn3/index?id=189937), with radio coverage provided by WVUM 90.5 FM. You can also listen to the broadcast anywhere in the world via the internet at WVUM.org. Justin Antweil and Mike Weisman will have the call on WVUM. Meanwhile, Joe Zagacki and Josh Darrow will have the call for 560 WQAM (WQAM.com), and the crew of Jose Martinez and Nick Melendres will provide Spanish radio coverage for 1450 ESPN Deportes (1450ESPNDeportes.com). One of the many new features to HurricaneSports.com this year is a live in-game chat that gives fans the opportunity to interact with each other.
