Hurricanes Complete Day One at Palmetto Collegiate

kiawah Island, S.C. – The University of Miami golf team sits in 12th place after two rounds on day one of the Palmetto Intercollegiate.
Leading the way for the Hurricanes is senior Maria Ronderos, who has paced the Hurricanes through the first three tournaments of the year. Ronderos opened with a first-round 74, while Miami freshman Carina Cuculiza stole the show with her season-best 69 in the first round.
Both players sit in sixth after round two, with Ronderos posting a 70, and Cuculiza shooting a four-over 75.
Miami’s team score of 611 puts them in 12th place after day one, 23 strokes off the lead of College of Charleston, who posted a 578 on Monday.
Senior Christina Hirano opened with a 37 on the front nine on the way to a 78 in round one, and a 79 in round two.
Sophomore Melanie Kleiner is the fourth Hurricane in action this week, posting an 81 and 85 in the first two rounds.
The Hurricanes wrap up the Palmetto Intercollegiate tomorrow in their final action of the fall season.
