Coral Gables, Fla. – University of Miami student-athletes who entered college between 1998 and 2001 had an overall graduation rate of 81 percent according to figures released by the NCAA today. That figure exceeded the 78 percent rate registered for all Division 1 schools.

Commenting on the Graduation Success Rate results, UM Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said, “The University of Miami athletic department takes great pride in the success that our student-athletes achieve in the classroom and I want to compliment our current and former student-athletes for their continued academic achievements.”

Four teams–men’s diving, women’s basketball, women’s golf and women’s tennis, all recorded a perfect 100 percent graduation rate while 12 teams exceeded the Division 1 average for their sports. Thirteen sports achieved a score of at least 70 percent while 10 sports had at least an 88 percent graduation success rate.
