NEW YORK, N.Y. – Highlighted by senior Ginou Etienne’s 400-meter time of 54.50, which landed her into Saturday’s finals, several members of the University of Miami women’s track and field team concluded competition on the first day of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational Friday.
Etienne’s time was the sixth fastest of the afternoon and the fastest time in her respective heat.
In the 60 meters UM freshmen Ashley Dukes and Kristy Whyte placed first and second in their flight with times of 7.49 and 7.54, respectively. The marks advance the freshman duo into Saturday’s finals.
In the shot put finals, junior Khadija Talley placed 15th overall with a mark of 46 feet, six and a quarter inches.
The second and final day of action at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational will resume Saturday.
