THE MATCHUP:

The University of Miami (6-4) hosts intra-state rival Stetson University (3-6) in the 77th meeting between the two schools.

Stetson is looking to rebound after two straight losses including an 82-63 home loss to Florida State on December 5. The Hatters’ three wins this season came against North Carolina A&T (72-69), Palm Beach Atlantic (80-63) and Kennesaw State (61-56).

Stetson, which has just one senior on its roster, has been led this season by sophomore forward Garfield Blair who is averaging team highs in scoring (13.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.1 rpg). Sophomore guard Kris Thomas is only other Hatter averaging in double-figures this season at 11.8 points per game.

Miami enters the game looking to get back-on-track after a 70-52 home loss to Mississippi State on Monday. The loss was the first at home for the Hurricanes this season.

Miami has been led by sophomore guard Jack McClinton who has scored 20-or-more points in seven games this season and leads the ACC in scoring (20.5 ppg), three-point field goal percentage (.540) and three-point field goals per game (3.40).

McClinton’s roommate, Brian Asbury has stepped up his game this season and ranks second on the team in scoring (12.3 ppg). Asbury and McClinton are the lone UM palyers averaging in double-figures.

With senior center Anthony King out until January with a sprained wrist, Asbury is the leading rebounder on the squad (6.1 rpg) and is tied for the team lead in steals (1.2 spg).

Making their first starts of the season will be freshman forward Dwayne Collins and sophomore guard Denis Clemente.

Collins was one of the Hurricanes’ bright spots in the Mississippi State game recording 14 points, six rebounds and five blocks. Clemente, who started 13 games last season, is averaging 6.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists, and has a 1.94 assist-to-turnover ratio.
