Sacramento, Calif. (hurricanesports.om) – University of Miami sophomore Tim Harris (Miami Booker T. Washington) became the Hurricanes’ first outdoor All-American in the 800-meters placing seventh at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif.

Harris, the 2006 ACC Indoor and Outdoor Champion, entered the NCAA Championships seeded 23rd but finished seventh after posting a lifetime-best time of 1:47.66 in the final.

“I felt good over the first 400-meters and was in a good position,” said Harris after the race. “With about 300-meters to go I felt everyone start to pick it up so I made my move a little earlier than I usually do. I didn’t finish the way I wanted, but it was a good experience reaching the final and I still have two seasons left.”

The All-America honor is the second for Harris who placed 10th in the 800-meters at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to garner All-America recognition earlier this season.

Harris becomes Miami’s first Outdoor All-American since Aaron Moser (decathlon) in 2000, and the first Hurricane to earn All-America honors during both the indoor and outdoor seasons since Davian Clarke (400-meters) in 1998.
