The Hurricanes (4-3) return to action after sweeping UCF, 7-0, in non-conference action on Feb. 18.
Miami is headlined by sophomore Audra Cohen who cracked the Fila Collegiate Tennis singles rankings for the first time this season when she was ranked 13th. Cohen finished last season ranked third in the country. After sitting out the fall, she has gone on to win 10 -consecutive singles matches at the No. 1 slot, including a convincing win over the nation’s former No. 1 ranked player, Diana Srebrovic.
Senior Melissa Applebaum also cracked the singles rankings for the first time in the spring, coming in at No. 84. Applebaum, who plays at the No. 2 position, is 5-2 in dual match play.
Applebaum and Cohen pair up as the No. 22 ranked doubles duo. Together the pair has compiled as 3-0 record at the No. 1 position.
Kentucky heads to Coral Gables with a 6-4 record and a No. 30 ranking. The Wildcats are fresh off a 5-2 loss to No. 40 Purdue. They opened the season with five-straight victories before getting swept by No. 1 Stanford at the ITA Team Indoor Championships. The loss became the first of four losses in the Wildcats’ last five matches.
Kentucky is led by No. 22 Kim Coventry who has won four consecutive matches over ranked opponents including Georgia Tech’s sixth ranked Kristi Miller. Coventry pairs up with Joelle Schwenk to become the 35th ranked doubles team in the country.
