Hurricanes Advance to 3-Meter Semifinal at the 2006 All-Star Challenge

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>ORLANDO, Fla.– Three University of Miami divers advanced to the 3-meter springboard semi-final on the first day of competition at the 2006 All-Star Challenge held in the YMCAAquaticCenter Thursday evening.

Senior Melanie Rinaldi finished first with an NCAA Zone qualifying mark of 304.25. Sophomore Jenna Dreyer came in third with a score of 254.10.

 

In the men’s 3-meter springboard, junior Derek Starks came in second with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 351.10.

 

All three divers advance to Saturday evening’s semifinal.

 

Rinaldi, Dreyer, Starks and freshman Tess Waresmith will compete in the 1-meter springboard prelim/quarterfinal which begins at 6:20 p.m. The top eight divers of each event will advance to the final.
