Aug. 28, 2004
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team will write a new chapter in school history Sunday, taking on Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. at 1 p.m., marking the first Atlantic Coast Conference match for the Hurricanes as well as the first conference competition of any sport at UM as members of the ACC.
The Hurricanes (0-1-0) take to the Cavilers (1-0-0) after falling to George Mason, 2-0 Friday night in the season opener, despite a strong offensive attack in which Miami outshot the Patriots, 15-6.
Virginia, ranked No. 7 by Soccer America, enters the contest on the heels of a 4-0 victory of East Carolina Friday night in Charlottesville.
Sunday’s match with the Cavilers will be the first meeting between the two schools.
