AUSTIN, TX – The University of Miami women’s trackand field team had four individuals and two relays record NCAA RegionalQualifying marks to highlight the first day of competition at the TexasRelays in Austin, TX.

Sophomore All-American Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA) won her 100-meterpreliminary heat in a time of 11.31 to advance to Saturday’s final. Her timewas the third fastest of the preliminaries and qualifies her for the NCAARegional Championships, May 30-31, in Fairfax, VA.

Senior All-America Sharianne Lawson (Palm Beach Lakes) won herpreliminary heat of the 100-meter hurdles to advance to Saturday’s final. Hertime of 13.27 was the third best of the preliminaries and was also an NCAARegional Qualifier.

Although she did not qualify for the finals, freshman All-AmericanDominique Darden (Harrisburg, PA) recorded a time of 13.75 in her 100-meterhurdle preliminary heat to qualify for the NCAA Regional Championships.

Darden, Lawson and Williams later joined freshman All-American CharletteGreggs (Miami Northwestern) in winning their preliminary heat of the4x100-meter relay. The foursome posted a time of 44.08, which was the thirdbest of the preliminaries and qualified them for NCAA regionals.

The 4×400-meter relay of senior All-American Saraque Whittaker (Ft.Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas), senior All-American Jamillah Wade(Philadelphia, PA), senior All-American Sashanie Simpson (Miami, FL) andjunior All-America Kitoya Carter (Miami Northwestern) won their preliminaryheat in a time of 3:34.37 advancing to Saturday’s final. Their time was thesecond best of the prelims and is an NCAA Regional qualifier.

In the long jump, senior All-American Gina Harris (Philadelphia, PA)finished eighth with a season-best leap of 6.12 meters (20-01.00). He markqualifies her for the NCAA Regional Championships.
