Bayonet Point, FL (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami sophomore Tina Miller (Miami, FL) fired an opening round 77 and is in 26th-place at the Beacon Woods Invitational in Bayonet Point, FL.
Miller trails Liz Stuart (FIU) and Sofie Anderson (Mississippi) by seven strokes. The two recorded 70’s on day-one to take the early lead.
The Hurricanes, who shot 328 as a team, are in 13th-place. Host South Florida, Mississippi, Memphis and Tulane are in a four-way tie for first after recording scores of 300.
Miami is playing without junior Camilla Hilland (Lommedalen, Norway). Hilland, the 18th ranked player in the nation, is competing for Norway at the World Cup in Malaysia.
Second-round action will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday with the Sunday’s final round starting at 9 a.m.
