No. 25 Women’s Tennis To Face No. 44 Virginia Commonwealth

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The No. 25 Unviersity of Miami women’s tennis team will look to extend its six-match winning streak as they go on the road to face No. 44 Virginia Commonwealth Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. in Richmond, VA.

The Hurricanes (6-0) recorded their sixth consecutive win of the season with a 6-1 routing of South Florida last weekend.

Miami opened the season with an impressive 5-2 victory over Florida Atlantic. Miami, led by sophomores Sara Robbins and Sihem Bennacer, then defeated Barry University 5-2.

The Hurricanes improved to a perfect 3-0 after defeating No. 25 South Alabama 4-3. Miami continued its perfect streak with wins over Mississippi State, FIU and USF, each by the score of 6-1.

Virginia Commonwealth (3-1) faces Richmond Friday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. before facing the Hurricanes on Saturday. They opened the season with three consecutive wins over Northern Iowa, East Carolina and Maryland. They suffered their first loss of the season, 3-4, against William and Mary on Feb. 13.
